The Dante Society

"Midway upon the journey of our life
I found myself within a forest dark,
For the straightforward pathway had been lost."
-Dante, first lines of Inferno

The Dante Society is our group for graduate students and anybody beyond college interested in fostering the Christian intellectual life in Pittsburgh. All seminars are free of charge. Invite your friends!

We’re calling this fall’s series “Podcasts and Picklebacks.” The gatherings preview episodes of the new Genealogies of Modernity Podcast. Each of eight narrative episodes takes up a well-known or lesser-known story of what it means to be modern and offers a surprising counter-narrative based on recent humanities research. As for Picklebacks—that quintessential Rust-Belt libation became a favorite of scholars visiting Pittsburgh in August to respond to the podcast in the Genealogies of Modernity Colloquium. We invite you to join us for an extension of that conviviality (drinking Picklebacks by no means expected).
