FCI Seminar 3: Foundational Arguments Against “Paganism"

The Church spent much of its intellectual energy in the first centuries arguing against the world view that is variously called “paganism,” “polytheism” or “idolatry”. In our day, this world view is growing again and often goes under the name of “spirituality”. This belief system has definite tenets which can be questioned. I will start by reviewing some of the classical arguments against this view, and end with a discussion of how quantum mechanics (my own field of research) is sometimes used in modern spirituality, rightly or wrongly. This seminar will be led by Dr. David Snoke (Physics and Astronomy, University of Pittsburgh).
