This seminar will be led by Dr. Brent Robbins (Psychology, Point Park University).
Joy has been studied as a fleeting affective state. More recently, however, investigators have begun to study joy as a personal disposition. This talk will explore whether and how joy may become a personal disposition, what characteristics of joyful disposition may consist of, and potential antecedents and consequences of a joyful personality. The question will also be raised as to whether a joyful disposition would constitute a hedonic, eudaimonic, or chaironic type of happiness, or perhaps a consummate form of happiness that includes all three types of happiness.
