Job Announcement:
Development and Communications Manager
Beatrice Institute (BI), a Pittsburgh-based initiative fostering education and research in the Christian intellectual and cultural traditions, seeks a Development and Communications Manager to work closely with the Executive Director, Assistant Director, and Senior Research Fellow to advance the institute’s mission. This position is full-time. The Development and Communications Manager will contribute to BI’s mission in four main areas: communications, grant prospecting and management, data management, and event execution. The qualified applicant will have an excellent sense of academic writing, be a good communicator, detail-oriented, organized, and willing to learn and master new administrative technologies (Salesforce, e.g.). The position pays $42,000 - $50,000 a year +$10,000-$12,000 a year in benefits, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
2-5 years of experience is preferred, but not required.

Have a keen interest in higher education, academic environments, student engagement, and Christian studies.
Be organized, a good communicator, and willing to learn, master, and effecitvely implement new administrative technologies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Managing/maintaining Beatrice Institute’s management softwares (like Salesforce, G-Suite, etc.), generating reports, managing record databases, etc.
Coordinating periodic development campaigns, such as end-of-year mailings, and generating/mailing end-of-year donor acknowledgement letters and the Institute annual report.
Consulting on and assisting with the creation of quarterly donor reports.
Prospecting and managing various grants and development opportunities.
Writing and publishing a weekly newsletter, detailing upcoming events, development initiatives, etc.
Maintaining alumni and donor relations.
Building and maintaining community partnerships and relations, such as relationships with Oasis, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, local churches, restaurants, museums, etc.
Assisting with program coordination and execution.
As needed, other activities to promote and deliver the project successfully.
Other responsibilities will depend upon the strengths and interests of the Development and Communications Manager in close collaboration with the Executive Director and the Assistant Director, and might include such responsibilities as program design.
